Published on May 08, 2024It’s time to expand Gateway Park, Fort Worth’s largest park and its only metropolitan park.What's ahead: A proposal to adopt the master plan will go before City Council on June 11. If the plan is adopted, the design phase would run from July 2024 through September 2025; construction would start in March 2026 and last about a year.By the numbers: The City’s 2022 bond program provided $8 million to support the master planning, design and construction of park amenities in Gateway Park. A Tarrant Regional Water District bond program will provide $6.6 million for a total of $14.6 million.Among the master plan features: boardwalk, restrooms and concession building, food truck parking, great lawn, outdoor market space, scenic overlook, Fort Woof Dog Park expansion, athletic field expansion, basketball courts, tennis and pickleball courts, sand volleyball courts, destination playground (think Dream Park in Trinity Park), splashpad, disc golf expansion, mountain biking hub, skatepark, hill slide and more.View an energetic video to help you get excited about the park’s future.
