The Fort Worth Public Library is making it easier for parents to instill a love of reading in their children through the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. This initiative encourages parents to sign up their children and receive a free booklet and special tote bag, available at all library locations while supplies last.

The provided booklet contains useful advice on how to incorporate more reading into family routines, while the tote bag facilitates the borrowing and returning of books. The library stands ready to support parents in every step of this journey, aiming to make reading both easy and enjoyable.

Each book read by or to the child counts towards the goal. This includes story times at any Fort Worth Public Library location, which provide an enjoyable way to progress in the challenge. Even repeated readings of the same book are counted as separate instances.

Parents are encouraged to celebrate designated milestones by bringing their child to the library to select a fun prize. Starting today can put your child on a path towards academic success. Reading just one book a day - 365 in a year - will enable reaching the 1,000-book goal within three years. Reading more than one book daily can accelerate this process.
