The Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth is set to host golf's longest-running tournament on the PGA Tour, the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge. The tournament, which will commence the week of May 20, is expected to attract top-tier golfers vying for the coveted tartan jacket on Memorial Day weekend.

In preparation for this prestigious event, significant improvements are being made to South University Drive. These enhancements aim to make this popular north-south thoroughfare safer, more convenient, and aesthetically pleasing. A median is being added to enhance safety and improve pedestrian and transit facilities.

The current phase of the project impacts South University Drive from West Rosedale Street to Riverfront Drive. Existing pavement will be milled from May 12-14, followed by repaving from May 15-19, and finally striping from May 19-20. All lanes of traffic will remain open during the Colonial event. The project is slated for completion by mid-June.

Residents living near the country club should anticipate changes in their garbage pickup schedule during tournament week. Additionally, their bulk pickup week has been adjusted. Affected households will receive a hand-delivered letter notifying them of these changes the week before the tournament.

For further information or inquiries about city services during Colonial week, residents can contact the City Contact Center at 817-392-1234 or dial 311 within city limits.
