The City of Fort Worth has announced the opening of its annual Environmental Excellence Awards program, aimed at recognizing companies excelling in pollution prevention, water conservation, air quality, and solid waste reduction and recycling. The awards honor businesses in full compliance with wastewater regulations and those demonstrating innovation in waste reduction, recycling, and water efficiency.
This initiative is a collaboration between Fort Worth Water and the Environmental Services Department. Detailed information on award categories and application procedures is available online. The deadline for applications is August 15, 2024.
Initially focused on monitored companies, the program has since expanded to acknowledge other businesses as well as individuals or groups committed to environmental awareness and practices. Awards include Innovation Awards and Recognition Awards.
To be eligible, applicants must be customers of Fort Worth Water or verify their location within Fort Worth. Compliance with local, state, and federal codes and laws is mandatory, with no outstanding violations allowed.
Innovation Awards cover areas such as Water Use & Process Improvement, Water Conservation, Stormwater Management, Air Quality Enhancement, Land Redevelopment, Solid Waste Reduction, and Recycling. Additionally presented are a Community Litter Control Award and the Keep Fort Worth Beautiful Green Educator of the Year award.
Recognition Awards feature the Fort Worth Friendly Landscapes Award for businesses applying water conservation principles to landscaping and the SmartWater Award for industrial, commercial, or institutional customers implementing water efficiency strategies following a SmartWater audit.
