The City of Fort Worth is set to participate as an official stop on the National League of Cities (NLC) Centennial Roadshow: 100 Years, 100 Cities. This initiative is part of NLC’s yearlong celebration, marking a century of commitment to advancing local government and advocating for the interests of cities, towns, and villages nationwide.
The roadshow, organized by NLC, includes stops at 100 cities across the country, aimed at spotlighting the diversity, resilience, and transformation of America’s local communities. The tour commenced in February at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where NLC was founded. Over several months, it will traverse from coast to coast, stopping in cities of all sizes to showcase unique municipal stories like that of Fort Worth.
Mayor Pro Tem and District 5 Councilmember Gyna Bivens, who serves on NLC’s Board of Directors, championed Fort Worth's inclusion in the roadshow. “I am honored that Fort Worth was selected as one of the 100 cities to be part of the NLC roadshow,” Bivens stated. “As Fort Worth approaches its 175th anniversary this summer, being part of the NLC’s celebration reminds us that when we work together, we can build incredible cities with the strength to stand tall for generations.”
Clarence Anthony, CEO and executive director of the National League of Cities added: “It is truly an honor for NLC to visit remarkable municipalities like Fort Worth that have made significant contributions to the advancement of local government over the past 100 years. Each of these cities has played a pivotal role in moving our local communities forward and has a unique story that showcases transformative change. As we celebrate and chart a course for the next 100 years, I am more excited than ever for the future of cities, towns and villages and look forward to continuing important work together.”
As its journey continues, the roadshow will make additional stops across various U.S. cities including Tampa, Florida where NLC will host its annual City Summit conference and culminating event this November.
