The heart of Fort Worth is undergoing a transformation as the City of Fort Worth initiates various roadway improvements along University Drive, intersecting with Texas Christian University’s campus. Construction began on April 29 and is anticipated to be completed by August 31. The project aims to enhance safety for both vehicular and pedestrian traffic, promising a smoother and safer experience for all.
The collaboration between TCU and the City is crucial in ensuring that the construction process minimally disrupts both campus life and that of Fort Worth residents. The planned work is strategically scheduled for the summer months to reduce disturbances during the academic year.
Upon completion, motorists on University Drive can expect upgraded traffic signals and enhanced crosswalks, contributing to a safer commuting experience. The project also entails widening walkways and expanding median landscaping, further enhancing safety measures for all pedestrians.
Initially, southbound lanes will be closed, followed by the closure of lanes in subsequent phases. Sidewalk closures will also be phased, but alternate walking paths will be installed to ensure minimal disruption to pedestrian flow.
As Fort Worth prepares for this transformative project along South University Drive, the anticipation of safer and more efficient traffic flow resonates among the TCU community and Fort Worth residents alike. With careful planning and cooperation, the City aims to pave the way for a brighter, safer future along this lively roadway.
