The City of Fort Worth is currently preparing a recommended Fiscal Year 2025 General Fund budget. City staff has been gathering feedback from residents through various channels. A series of open houses were conducted in May and early June, and Connect Fort Worth, a new online engagement platform, has collected feedback on topics related to the budget. The City also gathered resident feedback through the Steer the Budget campaign.

Through the Steer the Budget campaign, residents were able to submit a picture of Molly, the City’s official mascot, and comment on where they thought budget funds should be allocated. Residents submitted their thoughts through multiple avenues, including filling out a form on the budget webpage, the MyFW app, or on the City’s Facebook page.

Comments were collected over a month and a half. Highlights of what residents want included in the FY25 Budget have been noted.

To date, staff is projecting a $1.049 billion budget, reflecting a $35 million or 3.5% increase from FY24. Competitive salaries to retain employees and higher insurance costs are contributing to this increase. City Council FY25 budget priorities include economic development, community investment, community safety, infrastructure, and responsible growth.

Earlier this year, residents were invited to submit a photo of Molly and comment on how they would like to see budget funds spent.
