A candlelight vigil for Sgt. Billy Randolph will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14, at South Patrol Division, 3501 W. Risinger Road, where the temporary memorial is currently located.

Randolph was working a crash scene at I-35W southbound near Sycamore School Road. I-35 had been shut down for approximately three hours due to an 18-wheeler crash that caused a spill. The driver of the 18-wheeler did not suffer any injuries.

Randolph was standing on the exit ramp from I-35W to Sycamore School Road when the driver, De Aujalae Evans, 25, of Fort Worth, in a red 2020 Nissan Versa drove the wrong way up the exit ramp and struck Randolph.

Fort Worth Police officers rushed Randolph, a 29-year FWPD veteran, to JPS Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
