City Council voted Tuesday to rezone a site on Parker Henderson Road to provide a buffer between existing single-family homes and nearby industrial uses.

District 11 Councilmember Jeanette Martinez requested that the site be rezoned in accordance with the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The area will be rezoned from “I” Light Industrial to “A-5” One-Family.

The site, at 4812 Parker Henderson Road just south of Martin Street, is currently being used as a truck terminal and warehouse, which often results in noise and other unwanted impacts on nearby residents. If the business is considered a legal nonconforming use, it will be allowed to continue operating.

The City Zoning Commission had earlier voted unanimously in favor of rezoning.
