The Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department has launched an accessible webpage, offering a comprehensive list of the City’s universal playgrounds and communication boards in both English and Spanish.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) boards are tools that help nonverbal individuals express themselves using pictures and symbols. The webpage includes digital versions for use on devices like iPads or phones while at the park, as well as printable versions to bring with you.

This initiative was inspired by Kendra Frank, whose son uses these boards. She founded the nonprofit Elliot’s Voice, advocating for AAC boards across Texas.

“This makes my momma heart so happy for my son and other nonverbal individuals. Thank you for making Fort Worth more inclusive,” Frank said.
