Your responses to a short, eight-question survey can help Fort Worth protect the areas around streams, rivers, and lake shores.

Riparian areas are ecosystems that occur along streams, rivers, and lake shores where vegetation is strongly influenced by the presence of water. Fort Worth is the fastest-growing large city in the country. It encompasses 348.24 square miles, not including its extraterritorial jurisdiction, and has 63,986 acres of undeveloped land. The ongoing growth has brought rapid development, which can create challenges for Fort Worth’s watersheds.

The City is exploring options for potential policy changes aimed at better protecting areas around streams and rivers. The effort supports Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker’s Good Natured Greenspace Initiative and its goals to add 10,000 acres of open greenspace in Fort Worth in the next five years and grow and enhance the City’s park system.

Respond to an eight-question Riparian Area Initiative Survey to help Fort Worth protect the areas around streams, rivers, and lake shores.
