Most City offices, including City Hall, will be closed on Wednesday, December 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday. However, emergency services will continue to operate as usual.
Regarding solid waste services, there will be no collections for garbage, recycling, yard waste, or bulk items on December 25. For those whose regular pickup day is Wednesday, service will move to Thursday; Thursday's service will shift to Friday; and Friday's service will take place on Saturday. Bulk collections are set to resume on Thursday. Collections scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will proceed as normal.
Residents are permitted two extra bags of garbage next to their carts during the first pickup following Christmas. These additional bags will be collected by a separate truck and may not coincide with the timing of cart pickups. Residents are advised not to report missed collections if extra bags are picked up at different times from their carts.
The City's four Drop-Off Stations and the Environmental Collection Center will close on December 25 and reopen the following day.
Animal services facilities such as North Animal Campus and Chuck & Brenda Silcox Animal Care & Adoption Center will maintain regular hours on December 24 but close on Christmas Day. Both Hulen and Alliance PetSmart Adoption Centers also plan closures for Christmas Day but intend to resume regular hours on December 26.
All Fort Worth Public Library locations are slated for closure on December 25.
Recreational amenities have varying schedules: On December 24, community centers close at 6 p.m., while Haws Athletic Center and Sycamore Community Center shut down at noon. On Christmas Day, all community centers along with Haws Athletic Center, FW@6 programs, and Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge remain closed. Log Cabin Village closes from December 24-25. McLeland Tennis Center plans a closure at 1:30 p.m. on December 24 and remains closed through Christmas Day. Municipal golf courses close early at 3 p.m. on December 24 and stay closed through the holiday.
For water utility needs such as payments or account inquiries—or in case of emergencies—residents can contact the Water Department’s automated system via its round-the-clock call center at 817-392-4477.
Trinity Metro mass transit services will operate under a modified schedule during this period.
The Fort Worth City Council has scheduled its next meetings for Tuesday, January 14. A work session is planned for 1 p.m., followed by a council meeting at 6 p.m., both taking place in Old City Hall located at Room 2020 of Council Chamber respectively.
