Scammers are impersonating law enforcement officers, using urgent language to demand residents pay "legal fees" for supposed warrants related to missed jury service or outstanding cases. These calls do not come from the Fort Worth Municipal Court and are fraudulent. The court's staff does not solicit payments over the phone, and individuals visiting the court voluntarily are not arrested for Class C warrants.

"Fort Worth is a Safe Harbor Court, meaning residents can always visit a Fort Worth Municipal Court location without fear of arrest for outstanding warrants issued by the Fort Worth Municipal Court," stated Director William Rumuly.

Scammers often pose as government officials to lend credibility to their schemes. Residents with concerns about payment requests should contact the Fort Worth Municipal Court directly. Suspicious activities can be reported to the Fort Worth Police Department at 817-392-4222.

The holiday season presents opportunities for criminals; thus, vigilance is advised during last-minute shopping, traveling, and at home.
