As freezing temperatures are expected to persist through the weekend, with lows forecasted between 17-18 degrees, Fort Worth is taking steps to support individuals experiencing homelessness and providing advice on safeguarding homes and businesses against the cold.

Regular emergency shelters are ready to assist those in need during cold nights. Additional emergency shelter locations will be activated when necessary, with overflow beds available if the Presbyterian Night Shelter or Union Gospel Mission reaches capacity. This plan ensures that demand does not exceed capacity. Due to recent weather conditions, these shelter activations will remain until temperatures rise above freezing.

True Worth Place at 1513 E. Presidio St. serves as the main daytime resource for adults experiencing homelessness, operating daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information about local homeless resources can be found on the Directions Home webpage.

While no snow or precipitation is currently expected, residents should monitor local media and the City's Cold Weather webpage for updates.

Fort Worth Water advises residents to prevent frozen or burst pipes by calling a plumber if pipes freeze and avoiding using electrical appliances to heat them, which could cause bursts and electrocution risks. To report water main breaks or running water due to damaged pavement, call 817-392-4477 or use the MyFW app.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about this week's winter weather conditions by checking updates and advisories regularly. The City of Fort Worth emphasizes taking precautions and staying safe during the upcoming cold spell.
