The City of Fort Worth emphasizes the importance of exceptional customer service and consistency in its residential collections program. Despite this commitment, there are occasional delays or missed collections.
Residents are reminded that garbage, recycling, yard waste, and bulk waste are collected by different contracted crews, leading to varying collection times on scheduled days. It is common for residents to report a missed collection prematurely, only to find that the crew has not yet reached their area. To prevent unnecessary reports, residents are advised to wait until after 7 p.m. on their collection day before confirming a missed pickup.
Missed collections must be reported within 24 hours after the scheduled collection day for garbage, recycling, and yard waste. If reported beyond this period, contractors will not return for pickup.
For assistance with missed collections or related issues, residents can contact 311 representatives from Monday to Friday between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. This method is considered the most efficient for resolving issues and supports data collection efforts.
Proper disposal requires items to be set out curbside by 7 a.m. on collection day using the appropriate method—such as carts or bags—to ensure they are collected by the correct crews. Improperly sorted items may end up in landfills instead of being recycled.
The city also provides four Drop-Off Station locations where excess waste can be brought year-round during normal hours of operation. Additionally, residents can purchase Pay Bags for $15 plus tax per set of five for curbside pickup alongside their brown garbage cart on collection days.
For more information or to order Pay Bags, residents can call 817-392-1234; charges will appear on their water bill.
