Following a public hearing, the City Council decided to dissolve Tax Increment Financing District 10 in far north Fort Worth. The district, known as Lone Star TIF, has fulfilled its purpose.
Tax increment financing is a tool under Chapter 311 of the Texas Tax Code. It allows local governments to finance structural improvements and infrastructure in designated areas called reinvestment zones.
TIF 10 was established in 2004 to support the development of public space and infrastructure at Cabela’s, a large hunting and outdoor retail facility in the Alliance region of far north Fort Worth. Initially, revenues from TIF 10 were used for public improvements supporting Cabela's development.
Cabela's purchased bonds that provided initial funding for the project. These bonds were secured by tax increments collected within the TIF district.
With the maturity of these bonds, city staff recommended dissolving the TIF through an ordinance. Following Tuesday’s vote, the TIF will conclude on December 31, 2025.
