Movies That Matter, a film series program by the City of Fort Worth’s Human Relations Commission, is set to present "Picture a Scientist" on Thursday, February 6. The screening will take place at 7 p.m. at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, located at 3200 Darnell St.
Admission to the event is free, but reservations are required and can be made online.
The film "Picture a Scientist," released in 2020 with a PG-13 rating and running for 95 minutes, addresses the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields in the United States. Women account for less than a quarter of STEM professionals, with even lower numbers among women of color. The documentary highlights researchers who are challenging discrimination and working towards making science more inclusive. It features insights from social scientists, neuroscientists, and psychologists on fostering diversity and equity in scientific disciplines.
Movies That Matter is known for its bi-monthly screenings that focus on significant human and civil rights issues. Each event includes a film screening followed by a moderated discussion featuring special guests. Screenings occur in February, April, June, August, October, and December.
